Bob Harris is an American film actor, far past his prime. Visits Tokyo to appear in commercials, and Charlotte, a young woman meets a visiting photographer. Bored and against, Bob and Charlotte make ideal if improbable traveling companions. Charlotte is looking for her place in life, and the national average through marriage to Bob. Individually and together, they live the American experience in Tokyo. Bob and Charlotte suffer because of confusion and gladness on his head, and between the Japanese culture and language differences.
